[view] • [talk]Cooking gauntlets are a pair of members-only gloves, available after completing the Family Crest quest. While wearing the gauntlets, the player will have a reduced risk of burning all fish types. They can be obtained by bringing the magical Family gauntlets (or any of the enchanted gauntlets) to Caleb at Gertrude's house in Varrock. These gloves give no stats bonus. If the gauntlets are enchanted already, it will cost 25, 000 coins to change them. Cooking gauntlets give the same 1% experience bonus as sous chef's mitts if the player owns both.
If the gauntlets are destroyed or lost due to death, these gauntlets may be re-obtained free of charge from Dimintheis in south-east Varrock and will have the same enchantment on them. You can no longer obtain a 2nd pair by placing your original pair in a tackle box and asking Dimintheis for another pair - the gloves and tackle box cannot be dropped, only destroyed, so the 'drop trick' to get a 2nd pair does not work.
In case you still own any of the other Family Crest gloves, you will not be able to get these. Make sure to check your bank for either the Goldsmith Gauntlets or Chaos Gauntlets to change those into Cooking gauntlets.
The text that appears when you give your gauntlets to Caleb is: "Caleb takes the gauntlets from you, pours some herbs and seasonings on them, bakes them on his range for a short period of time, and then hands them back to you." Wearing these gloves while training Cooking will save a lot of time and money because of less food being burnt.
Note: If you are unable to exchange or claim the gauntlets, destroying and reclaiming them seems to fix the problem.
